Buffalo State alumni Julia Bottoms, ’12, ’17; Chuck Tingley; Edreys Wajed, ’97; and assistant professor Shasti O’Leary-Soudant are four of the artists featured in Hi-Vis, the Buffalo AKG Art Museum’s newest long-running exhibition.
Over the first ten years of its existence, the Buffalo AKG’s Public Art Initiative has created more than sixty works by eighty artists. When these artworks are installed—whether for a short time or permanently—they meet an audience of hundreds of thousands—the highest form of visibility an artist could ask for. Hi-Vis is an invitational survey exhibition that celebrates these artists.
The curator of the exhibit was a fourth art and design alumnus, Zach Boehler, ’08, who serves as the AKG’s Assistant Curator for Special Projects.
“This is extremely notable,” said Candace Masters, chair of the Art and Design Department. “It is evidence of the impact of Buffalo State Art and Design program on the world of visual arts in our region, nationally, and internationally.”
Hi-Vis is on view at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum through June 9. To learn more, visit the website.
